Actively going outside? Choose the highest protection!
If possible, we like to be outside. For walking, exercising and of course to enjoy sunlight and warmth. But the sun can also be dangerous. Because what we cannot see with the naked eye is UV (Ultraviolet) radiation. There are two types: UVA can damage and age your skin. In addition, too much UVA can even cause skin cancer. UVB ensures that our body produces much-needed vitamin D. But it can also make your skin burn.
Care Plus® has the products that protect your skin when you are active outside. And to care for your skin after an active day in the sun.
Protect yourself during every season
Sunscreen is of course especially important in the summer. But you can also burn in winter and on winter sports. That has to do with solar power and reflection.
Solar power
The less distance UV rays have to travel, the stronger they are. When the sun is directly overhead, that distance is the shortest. In the summer this is between 12:00 and 15:00. Higher in the mountains, the sun is therefore also more powerful because the UV rays reach you earlier.
Clouds and reflection
Clouds block the radiation. But thin clouds, such as we see in ’heavy weather’, are not. Good to know: UV radiation becomes 10-20% stronger when it reflects off sand or water. With fresh snow or fresh ice, that is even 80-90%! So protect yourself well in the winter.
Skin types and protection factor
Every sunscreen has a factor: the Sun Protection Factor (SPF). There is a simple rule for choosing your factor; the lighter your skin and the more direct sunlight, the higher the factor. So if you have tinted skin, you can use a lower factor. For children, the advice is: at least SPF30. Choose SPF50+ if you don’t want to take any risks. Keep babies completely out of the sun. Their skin is still too fragile.
Protection for an active outdoor life
Care Plus® helps you with optimal sun protection. With products that fit what you want to do.
Protection tips:
- Apply your sunscreen lotion or gel 30 minutes before going into the sun.
- As long as you’re sitting in the sun or busy; re-apply every 2 hours.
- The sun is most powerful between 12:00 and 15:00. We advise you to look for the shade.
- Apply generously. Applying too thinly reduces the protection factor considerably.
