Accidents can happen
Accidents can happen when you’re on holidays, during outdoor activities or in and around the house. It is therefore important to keep a first aid kit at hand. When you’re travelling, you need different products than at home or in the car. Especially in a warm climate, like subtropical regions, the chance of wounds getting infected is greater. In addition to wound care, a tick remover, foot care (blisters) and treatment to extract venom after bites and stings are recommended. Ensure your trip is not affected by little accidents.
Always a First Aid kit at hand
Medical resources in foreign countries are often not of the same standards as in the Netherlands and Belgium. Scarcity of – often not-sterile – needles, syringes and other medical resources that go into the skin, increase the risk of infection with an infectious disease. It is useful to take an extensive set of sterile tools in addition to a First Aid kit.
Prevent a tick bite
Tick pincers are an absolute must-have. In the Netherlands, around 15% of ticks are infected with the Borrelia bacteria that causes Lyme disease.
Care Plus tip
When removing a tick, there are a few things you shouldn’t do, such as using ether, alcohol, fire or trying to remove the ticks with your fingers. This can cause a quick release of harmful bacteria in the bloodstream.
Care Plus® supplies a product range for first aid when travelling, prevention and treatment of blisters and safe removal of ticks.
