Preventing blisters

Blisters occur due to too much friction and pressure on the skin. A little liquid-filled blister develops in between the layers of the skin. Having a blister can be unpleasant, especially during a hike. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to prevent a blister. Read the 7 tips below:

  • Wear shoes that fit. Shoes that are too small will cause friction and cause a painful blister.
  • Break in your shoes before wearing them on a long hike.
  • Wear dry socks that fit and that cause you to sweat as little as possible.
  • Start treating your feet daily with Camphor Spray that will harden the skin, at least four weeks prior to going on a long hike.
  • Dust your feet with foot powder prior to and while on a hike. Care Plus® Foot Powder absorbs moisture, dries the feet and helps to prevent blisters.
  • Always wash your feet in cold water and without soap. Soap softens the skin.
  • Protect sensitive spots by using surgical tape or sports tape prior to going on a hike.
